Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder had words. Then more words. And after the referees divorced them, they continued to jaw.
This resulted in both point guards being thrown out.
This happened fairly early in the third quarter. Irving was asked for a foul, Schroder applauded the call and started jaw-dropping, and a few seconds later, when the Lakers were about to penetrate the ball, they were still in each other’s faces. No one would stop jaws, and soon they were sent to pack.

Nets coach Steve Nash said between the two quarters that he did not know what was being said that led to the expulsions.
Just as the Lakers are short-lived without LeBron James or Anthony Davis, they will take the trade of both point guards off the floor. A flat Brooklyn team struggled to defend the Lakers (who remained fifth in the league despite their stars not being), and Irving was one man who could turn the switch and change the dynamics. With him in the locker room, the Lakers are in a much better place.
