Watch Government Kate Brown talk about Oregon’s latest coronavirus updates live at 11:00

Government Kate Brown is holding a press conference Friday at 11 a.m. to discuss Oregon’s ongoing response to coronavirus. Representatives from the Oregon Health Authority will join her.

Brown’s news conference comes before seniors 80 and older who are eligible for vaccinations on Monday. But government officials have warned that there will not be enough doses for everyone, with teachers, inmates and health care providers also eligible amid a limited offer from the federal government.

The Oregon health authority on Thursday reported 730 new confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus and seven more deaths, with cases remaining well below the December peak.

The agency has also announced that it will begin launching data on more infectious variants of the virus in Oregon. According to Thursday, there were four cases of the variant first identified in the UK, and no cases of the South African or the Brazilian variant.
