Watch Gordon Murray’s Ground-Sucking T.50 Supercar Lap The Top Gear Track

Nowadays, the world is positively packed with supercars and hypercars. By that we mean that the world is full of some real cars and a slew of incredible concepts that promise extraordinary achievements. When everything is done, a large part of the concepts never see the light of day. Therefore, it’s nice to see the crazy T.50 turn real laps, even if it’s just slow speeds from the Top Gear track at Dunsfold.

New photos and videos from Gordon Murray Automotive confirm that the T.50 is not just a crazy-scientific idea being transferred to a digital world of computer versions. In fact, Gordon Murray climbs behind the wheel himself to taste some of his car. The famous designer has all sorts of history with fast cars, and his time with McLaren as the designer of the infamous F1 definitely comes through in the T.50. From the two-part doors to the three-seater cabin and general shape, the T.50 can be a modern effect on the 240 km / h F1. That is, until you see it from behind.

You will not find a jet engine on the F1 or on the T.50. However, Murray’s new car features an electric fan that rotates at 7,000 rpm and effectively sucks the car into the sidewalk. The fan also functions as a ram-air system for the insane Cosworth-V12, which develops 654 natural horsepower from just 4.0 liters of displacement. It’s more than 12,000 rpm, and although we can not fully hear the engine in this video, it even sounds angry. The whistle of the fan is also pretty loud.

The clip is literally the first ride of the T.50 prototype, so it’s understandable why things are taken slowly. It is nevertheless an important first step to bring the car into production, which is planned for 2022. Only 100 are made at a cost of about $ 3 million per car, and after watching this video, we can not wait around one of the it goes full tilt on a track.
