Watch Gordon Murray Drive for the first time His Hotly anticipated T.50

Gordon Murray, who designed the iconic McLaren F1, knows a thing or three about high-performance cars. And while he may be just a little biased, the legendary designer looks like a proud father after sitting behind the wheel of his latest creation.

Gordon Murray Automotive has just released a video of Murray taking his first test drive in the upcoming T.50 hypercar. Although he only had to take the prototype for a quick turn in an airport tarmac, the designer seemed more than happy with the results.

Halfway through a five-minute clip, a masked Murray can be seen, strapped in and ready to go behind the wheel of the T.50 Experimental Prototype 2 (XP2), with one of his engineers sitting in the back. Once the engine is engaged, the designer leaves around the tarmac, and although he never gets around to pushing the car to its extreme – he only brings the engine to 3000 rpm, nowhere near its 12,100 rpm line, you can rumble really hear from his engine.

It should come as no surprise that the car announces its presence, even if it barely turns over. The 3.9-liter Cosworth V-12 with a very light speed engine is a true power station capable of delivering 654 horsepower and torque. Despite the muscular mill, the car is designed with the focus on driver experience and not performance specifications. According to Murray, it could both deliver.

“The XP2 prototype is currently running at significantly less revs than the 12,100 rpm limit, but the T.50 felt fantastic during my first ride,” Murray said. Road & Track. ‘The car was responsive, agile and rewarding to drive. It was a fantastic experience to sit in the middle of the car again with great visibility and I can see how much the owners will enjoy this experience. ‘

You’ll soon get your chance to sit behind the wheel of Murray’s next-generation hypercar. The T.50 will be in production at the beginning of next year. Of course, if you plan to add the futuristic vehicle to your collection, prepare to hand over the cheddar. The T.50 will start at $ 3 million before tax.
