John Calipari is not happy with his team’s performance, specifically how his team handed over the match in the loss to Georgia, the third consecutive loss in conference play. When Calipari was asked to explain what he was saying to the team to prevent further discouragement after such a crushing loss, ‘I need someone to talk to me because I’m discouraged. ”
What I just saw? The way we finished the game? The shot choice at the end? The free throw, turnover – just throw the ball to them for layups? We gave them 20 points to throw the ball. I’m discouraged. ”
Calipari also said that the UK’s waiting game was “terrible” and that the defense was bad and that they could not win 50/50 balls until they pointed the finger at him to find the solution.
“You can see my frustration already, but I’m the coach of the team and I have a task to do and we have to find out how we are going to win matches,” he said.
Part of getting things moving in the right direction is finding guys he can rely on throughout, and that’s a problem right now. He wants to play six or seven guys, he says, “the problem is, who would they be?”
