Washington Waives Thaddeus Moss, 4 others

Washington’s Thaddeus Moss The signing of UDFA aroused interest due to the need of the team in the then tight position and the appeal to the name brand that the LSU alum bore. But Moss did not play last season and spent it on IR. He is now on the waiver wire.

Washington on Friday waived second-generation pro. In addition to the Moss cut, Washington cut the defensive line Caleb Brantley. The former late-round pick did not choose the 2020 season.

The son of Hall of Famer Randy Moss, Thaddeus was part of LSU’s historic explosive offense in 2019. He joined Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Terrace Marshall Jr. as a key catcher of that season’s Tigers Pass, which drew 47 passes for 570 yards and four touchdowns. Two of them came in the national championship game.

After doctors discovered a fracture in Moss’ foot at the Combine, he missed extended training camp time. Washington dropped him before last season with a title for injuries. He spent the season on Washington’s IR list. Although Washington was light on the tight position that started last season, the former quarterback was Logan Thomas broken through and met that need.

The Browns fielded Brantley in the sixth round of 2017, but the former Florida Gator did not see much action as a forward. After scoring two bags as a rookie in 12 games, Brantley has only played eight in the last three years. Washington also relinquished wide receiver Emanuel Hall and runners Javon Leake and Michael Warren on Friday.
