Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler called on the Biden administration on Friday for trying to “turn” his beautiful turnaround on the refugee hood as a mere media confusion.
The White House said Friday that President Biden is expected to increase the refugee limit for this fiscal year, hours after signing an order holding it back in the Trump era that angered congressional Democrats.
“The president’s mandate today was a bit confusing,” White House secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement late in the afternoon.
In response to the latest developments, the Associated Press made the headline: “After backlash from allies, the White House says President Biden will move next month to lift the Trump-era refugee cap.”

The sharp acknowledgment of the real reason for the reversal gave praise to Kessler’s AP.
“The WH release actually expressed it as ‘confusion’ by the media over the earlier announcement. Kudos to the AP for not falling for the turn,” the chief Post Facts controller tweeted.
The government announced on Friday that Biden has signed an emergency presidential decision to keep the refugee cap at 15,000 while changing the local allocation of those brought in – allowing for more slots from Africa, the Middle East and Central America, while the restrictions on Somalia are terminated. Yemen and Syria.
It drew immediate and widespread criticism from left-wing Democrats and immigrant activist groups.

Former President Donald Trump has lowered the refugee limit for FY 2021 to 15,000 – a move that Biden has promised to reverse during the campaign and in his first term.
Biden has promised to increase the limit to 125,000 for the next financial year, which begins in October. He also said he would make a payment on the number with Congress. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Antony Blinken has proposed lifting the cap to 62,000 for this financial year.
