Washington creates an online system to determine who can get the COVID-19 vaccine

The Washington State Department of Health is introducing a new system to eliminate attempts to confuse who may or may not receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The new system is an online questionnaire called PhaseFinder. The way it works is that you provide information about yourself, such as your age, and in which country you live.

PhaseFinder also asks a series of questions to determine the likelihood that you will come into contact specifically with your work with COVID-19.

Depending on your answers, you will receive a message stating that you are eligible or ineligible for the vaccine.

Health officials say this system will remove the burden of the people administering the vaccine to determine who can get it.

PhaseFinder trusts the public to be honest with their answers. Health officials say they realize there is an opportunity for people to play the system, but say they would rather people get the vaccine than the alternative

Currently, people who are under phase 1A can receive the vaccine.

Phase 1A includes all workers in health care institutions, and residents and employees in auxiliary and nursing homes.

Health officials say they hope to release more information next week on who will receive the next vaccination.
