Athletic director Phil Fulmer ‘retired’ on Monday afternoon when the University of Tennessee announced the resignation of Jeremy Pruitt, head soccer coach, after an internal investigation found that the program had committed a number of Level I and Level II offenses. Based on Mark Stoops’ response, the Tennessee fraud was a bad secret.
“I have to respond to this,” Stoops said on Tuesday’s issue of Kentucky Sports Radio. ‘Did I see it coming? Yes, I’m grateful it came. Does it surprise me? Not one bit. ”
Stoops were pleasant compared to the low-down Vols. Tennessee’s fraud may be the most sloppy in the history of college athletics. Dan Patrick said Tennessee assistant coaches “poured money into McDonald’s bags and gave it to the recruits when they arrived on campus … They did not even try to hide it.”
