Streamer Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff has revealed his theory on how Warzone Season 2’s teasers could lead to the destruction of Verdansk.
Almost every battle royal game on the market has multiple cards. Fortnite moves to a brand new map for Chapter 2, and Apex Legends turns off different maps that change significantly each season.
Rebirth Island was added to Warzone in December, but this smaller map was not designed to replace Verdansk’s large-scale royal action.
Call of Duty: Warzone players have been eagerly awaiting a new full-scale map for months. NICKMERCS has a theory on how this is going to happen, after the season 2 teasers in Verdansk.
Warzone Season 1 ends February 24 and teasers for season 2 are spotted in Verdansk. Lightning appeared in the air and strange machines asking players to activate zombies were found in the hospital and stadium.
Zombies came to Verdansk for last year’s Halloween event, and it looks like they’ll be back soon. While the machines asking players to “activate zombies” are not doing anything yet, NICKMERCS believes this will be the key to how Warzone will progress to a new map.
Since secret bunkers with nuclear bombs began to appear in Warzone, “there’s always been a conversation about a big nuke hitting the map.” As NICKMERCS explains, a zombie outbreak would be the perfect reason to drop Verdansk.
“The takeover of zombies, we drop the core, blow up the map and we’re going somewhere else.”
With players expecting a match in the game to start season 2, they can escape from a zombie-infested Verdansk before being cracked, it sounds very likely and exciting.
It is anything but confirmed that Warzone will move from Verdansk to the Ural Mountains. This place is the map for Black Ops Cold War’s Fireteam: Dirty Bomb (like Verdansk for Modern Warfare’s Ground War) and was mentioned in the post-credit scene for the Firebase Z Easter Egg.
As we approach season 2, you can expect more teasers and Easter eggs to be discovered around the Warzone map.
