Warriors’ Steve Kerr reveals why James Wiseman made shoe changes

James Wiseman was ready to represent his new shoe company, Anta, in the Warriors game against the Charlotte Hornets, before a conversation with one of the team’s assistant coaches made a quick change in the sneakers.

Steve Kerr spoke to the media on Saturday after practicing Warriors and the head coach revealed why Wiseman changed one last wardrobe.

“James had some Antas before the game,” Kerr explained. ‘To be ready to wear some Gordan Hayward Antas and (Warriors video coordinator Jacob Rubin) Jacob told him’ you can not wear Gordon Hayward Antas if you play against Gordon Hayward ‘and so he changed, i think he changed into the Klay Thompsons. ‘

Wiseman still shook Antas, but he could not shake the signature shoe of a player he was drafting against.

The newcomer became the third Warrior to play with an Anta shoe contract, after Thompson and Kevon Looney.

Wiseman had 16 points and four rebounds in his first game as an Anta athlete.
