James Wiseman missed a COVID-19 Test during the All-Star break and was forced to not practice on Wednesday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters during a video conference.
The 19-year-old’s status is in doubt for the starting contest for the second half of the second half of the Los Angeles Clippers.
“It was a mistake,” Kerr said. “He just forgot. This is disappointing because he could have used the exercise tonight and we needed him. It is disappointing that he made the mistake. ”
Ever since he was so young, Kerr has used the great potential of Wiseman, but now his youth is showing for a different reason.
Kerr said Wiseman was in the Bay over the rest period. Teammate Eric Paschall said players who stayed locally had to enter the team facility for daily Tests, while Kerr said he had to post his Tests overnight while on vacation over the rest period.
The pandemic brought with it quite a few new challenges, and part of the NBA player in these times includes extra appointments and attention to detail. From Kerr’s remarks, it appears that this was an avoidable episode for the young rookie.
Steph Curry said he hopes it will become a learning moment for Wiseman.
“That’s what you have to do,” Curry said. ‘For a rookie to come in, of course, a lot of things are thrown at you just in terms of what happens on the track. But now it’s clear that all the protocols and accountability are about to break.
‘But I think we all understand that this is our job and that we need to do things. If you do not do this, it will leave you a little behind. So hopefully he won’t be out for long. I do not know what the situation really is, to be honest. We all have to do our part to get through the season. ”

Curry also shared the type of advice he can offer Wiseman.
“His kind of personality, he strives to be amazing and he feels like he’s supposed to be perfect all the time,” Curry said. ‘I think for him, one, whatever the situation, it will work out. He will get back to us as soon as possible. But holding himself accountable like every other man in the locker room and doing your job shows up every day with the right mindset. ”
According to Kerr, Wiseman traveled to Los Angeles with the team, but the league notified the Warriors Wednesday that the center is not eligible to practice. The Clippers’ front field contains players such as Serge Ibaka, Nicolas Batum, Ivica Zubac.
The No. 2 overall pick has had an up-and-down season, averaging 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while putting out 11 games with a wrist injury over the past few weeks and after switched to a reserve role. Since this setback was preventable, it’s a rough way for the rookie to start his second half.
