Warriors’ Draymond Green has compiled unprecedented aid zones

You’ve heard of point guards and forwards, but what about point centers?

Draymond Green may be the first from the NBA, at least until James Wiseman or Kevon Looney return from their respective injuries. In the 129-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, Green tied his career with 16 shots.

This is the fourth time Green has scored a sweet 16 in his career. Green has had a tear lately over handing out thumbs, as put in context by the Warriors liaison officer.

“I think this team was built for him to handle the ball, to get started,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters during his post-match video conference. ‘I think he’s gotten in a much better shape over the last few weeks and gotten a much better rhythm. I think he really, physically, mentally, made a turn about two weeks ago. The play center also opens the floor for him. If he is central and handles the ball, it changes the chessboard completely. ”

The term point center is perhaps a bit stretchy, as Green spends more time on the offense at the top of the key than in the paint, but the NBA is changing. Green still holds the defense back from the low block and guards the biggest player of the other team so he can be considered a center at the end of the floor.

In the end, it’s all semantics. Green’s game is evolving as he begins later in his and his career off-the-charts basketball-IK leads to many buckets for his teammates.

It also does not hurt to have Steph Curry in your team. Without Klay Thompson, Green’s ability to run the attack enabled Curry to play off the ball and exhaust defense to get quick open shots. The rest of the offense had a chain reaction.

“With Steph playing so well, there’s just a lot of space and a lot of slips,” Kerr said. ‘You see some plays where guys on the edge are open because of Steph’s gravity and the attention to him. Draymond sees all the good stuff. He’s just in a very good groove and plays with a lot of energy. I think Draymond was just brilliant. ‘
