Warhammer 40K fan project Astartes leads Games Workshop to create new, official animations

Astartes is an animated series made by fans, who follow a group of Space Marines as they do one of their bloody missions in the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. The project was created by Syama Pedersen and garnered millions of views on YouTube. Games Workshop took note of the success of the project and hired Pedersen into the team. Now a spate of new, official Warhammer animations is on the way, which is an exciting prospect for fans of Astartescarefully animated action.

There’s a rich history of Warhammer trailer projects becoming official, as Games Workshop notes that animators and filmmakers are using their long-term franchise on YouTube. Richard Boylan, a film designer at Electronic Arts, has projects such as Helsreach and Wagter on YouTube.
