Vice President Kamala Harris likes to dislike, the Washington Post reported this week in its latest glowing feature of the VP. The newspaper followed Harris to Fiber Space, a boutique yarn store in Alexandria, Va., To immerse herself in one of her favorite hobbies.
“When Vice President Harris visited a yarn store in Alexandria last month, she cites a little-known fact about herself that has left the fiber-optic community a bit of darkness,” writes Jura Koncius, WaPo reporter. “The new vice president is a crocheter.”

“I was raised by a mother who said, ‘I’m not going to let you sit in front of that television and do nothing.’ “So I crocheted more Afghanistan than I can tell you,” Harris apparently said in the store. “And our daughter is a coach.”
Koncius noted that Harris’ revelation only improved the ‘cool factor’ of crochet. Crocheters, she writes, now feel as if Harris has given them more ‘street cred’. If you happen to be walking along the Wharf in Washington, DC, Koncius adds, you will see a massive crocheted mural of the VP with the words ‘I speak’, referring to a line she uttered during her vice president . debate with former VP Mike Pence during the 2020 race for the White House.
The WaPo crochet profile can be interpreted as another example of the apparent media love affair with Harris. Vogue, for example, featured her on the cover of their February 2021 issue. The Los Angeles Times, meanwhile, was mocked after announcing in January that it would launch the ‘Covering Kamala Harris’ section as a partner dedicated to her historic rise to the White House. “Some critics have accused the Times of acting like a ‘PR firm’ for Biden’s government.
Not everyone forges so much flattery at Harris. Instead, some media figures noted that since President Biden Harris was appointed as his border tsar, she has not been able to hold a press conference.
The media research center, Tim Graham, asked why WaPo spent time on Harris’ knitting skills when they could ask important questions about what the Biden government is doing or not doing to the border crisis.
