Anonymous sources frequently used during the Trump administration were “deeply problematic,” Fox News correspondent Ben Domenech told Outnumbered on Tuesday. BEN DOMENECH: We need to understand, you know, how deeply problematic it has been over the last few years to see how much anonymous procurement is something that was just ubiquitous in every media attack on President Trump, including situations where anonymous sources would then be used to to back up other anonymous sources and to be presented as confirmation. Now that we know what really happened in this situation, it seems even worse than everything you’ve been through in the sense that how do we know? We know this because the request for an open record resulted in a recording being discovered by the relevant office; discovered in a trash folder on a computer.

In other words, they tried to remove it and did not get away with it. Without it, we would not even know it. At the time, one of the things the Democrats were referring to during their accusation of the president in the presentation was utterly deceptive, that he did not say the thing that these anonymous sources claim he said. And for me, this is something that will remain a problem in the media from now on. It’s not just linked to President Trump. The use of anonymous sources that are so important is a very disturbing phenomenon. And we need to be skeptical about it going forward to a much greater extent. ‘
