WandaVision’s Post Credit Scenes Set Up 3 New MCU Movies & Programs

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for WandaVision episode 9, “The Series Finale.”

The events of WandaVision episode 9, “The Series Finale, ends with two major post-credits scenes, each setting out the MCU future of key characters Scarlet Witch and Monica Rambeau, while incorporating broader franchise elements such as the Skrulls and Nick Fury. WandaVision season 1 (which is almost certainly the only season of the show), gradually built up to its big showdown, with Agatha Harkness rounding out the Scarlet Witch, while Vision confronted White Vision and tried to SWORD the Hex and stop Wanda once and for all.

The climactic battles and revelations led to an emotional and satisfying end for WandaVision: Agatha Harkness is defeated, with Scarlet Witch borrowing a trick from her to remove her power and trap her in Westview forever. SWORD director Tyler Hayward was also arrested, with great help from Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis, while White Vision flew away, presumably to return again in a future MCU film or TV show.

The final of WandaVision made Westview normal again and meant that Wanda, somewhat inevitably, had to say goodbye to Vision and the twins. But while there were no big cameos or shocking twists that some viewers expected, it twisted its storyline and ensured that enough foundation was laid for its future, especially in the post-credit scenes, which relate to everything from Secret Invasion and Captain Marvel 2 on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

WandaVision Episode 9’s Mid-Credits Scene: Monica, Skrulls & Nick Fury Setup

WandaVision Episode 9 Post-Credits Scene Scroll

First, WandaVision‘s middle credit scene repeats a trick from the Spider-Man: Far from home post-credit scenes, with the unveiling of another Skrull agent on earth (this one played by Lori Livingston). The Skrull reveals herself to Monica Rambeau in the Westview cinema and claims that she was “old friend” from Maria Rambeau, who heard that Monica was grounded and wanted to meet with her. When Monica asks “where?” the Skrull points upwards, which means all the characters point to Nick Fury, and continue from the tease Far from home. Fury meets and works with Maria in Captain Marvel, and so it makes sense that they would have had contact, especially after she drafted SWORD, and that Fury would keep an eye on things (although that raises the question of why he did not interfere, but it does suit his style) .

When Spider-Man: Far from home released, was the assumption that Fury drafted (or joined) the MCU’s SWORD and oversaw their operations in space, supported by the organization then in WandaVision. Director Hayward’s bad intentions seem to be shifting, but since his Project Cataract was his own agenda, it’s still plausible that Fury works for SWORD as well. But whether it’s them or his own new agency, Fury is clearly working very closely with the Skrulls to help protect extraterrestrial threats – something he’s been doing for a long time – while also helping various governments and official organizations. to infiltrate the earth and give him the level of power, influence and supervision he would like.

This has been confirmed Secret Invasion will take place in the MCU thanks to its own Disney + show – a storyline that follows the long infiltration of the earth by Skrulls – and it continues to build on this. The Skrulls introduced in Captain Marvel were the good guys, but that would follow a rogue group working on Earth – so apparently Fury is the counterintelligence working to thwart their goals of earthly domination, along with the good Skrulls like Talos, who pretended to be Fury in Far from home. With the experience of Monica as a SWORD operator, someone who knows Fury that he can definitely trust, and her newfound superpowers, will be a great benefit to working with him during the events of Secret Invasion.

Similarly, it was also confirmed that Monica in Captain Marvel 2. Since the first film introduced the Skrulls to the MCU in the first place, it makes sense that it was all connected. Monica’s appearance in Secret Invasion can continue to reunite with Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2, as Fury and Danvers also have a long working relationship, and the story of the Skrulls can join in with everything Carol has been doing in space since the events of Captain Marvel. With the WandaVision Delivery 9 mid-credit scene, the dots fit nicely with Monica’s MCU future and that she’s becoming a true superhero working with Fury and Captain Marvel to protect the world (and beyond).

WandaVision Episode 9’s Post-Credits Scene: Wanda Hearing The Twins Explained

Scarlet Witch in the WandaVision Final Award

While previous episodes had only one sting, WandaVision‘s finale has two scenes to credits, and the second is even bigger. Following her farewell to Vision, Billy, Tommy and Westview as a whole, she finds that Wanda lives very quietly and remotely in a house on the shore, surrounded by vast mountains. It’s a world away from Westview and, apparently, anyone and anywhere else, as Wanda wants to recover from what happened. But just like WandaVisionThe early episodes introduced a fantasy world that made way for a much more disturbing truth, and there was also something strange and darker lurking behind Wanda’s new home.

Once again, Wanda sits behind things, and now projects a different version of herself, while the real one – still in the new and true Scarlet Witch costume she gets in the finale – does not just read the Darkhold – the book of magic she’s from Agatha – but is very busy with her magic. As Agatha suggests, the Darkhold is an incredibly powerful artifact on its own – also known as the Book of the Damned, it’s full of dark magic. Its power can spoil the reader, and even lead to tears in the dust of reality itself. Since the book contains information about the Scarlet Witch, it is likely that Wanda wants to find out exactly who and what she is, and she has clearly learned all new skills from it, such as the ability to divide herself into two beings.

Even more curious – and sinister – is that Wanda hears the twins, Billy and Tommy, calling for help as she reads the Darkhold, which raises big questions about how Wanda hears them. One possibility is that, as Wanda Westview created, her sadness affects her so much that the fabric of reality around her begins to break down, especially since she is now reading something that is so dangerous and powerful that she does not have a full understanding of it. The twins’ voices may also suggest that they were resurrected or taken to another dimension – as the Darkhold could again damage reality.

One villain who has been teased before is Nightmare, for whom there were not only rumors WandaVision but Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and he who has the twins in the Dream Dimension would fit as a configuration for Doctor Stranger 2, as well as a plausible reason for Wanda to hear their voice now. There were even some annoyances from “nightmares” in WandaVision, including one in “The Series Finale”, so it’s possible. But most likely, it’s still likely to point to Chthon, an older God of Marvel Comics. Chthon is the origin of not only the Darkhold, but also the source of Chaos Magic – the same power to which Scarlet Witch was revealed. In the comics, it was Chthon who drenched Scarlet Witch with her Chaos Magic, designed as a way to re-enter the world one day when her powers were completely unleashed. And just like that, the Darkhold was meant to give him a foothold in reality so that he could possibly return.

It all fits what WandaVision did, and sure what the post-credit scenes show. Marvel explained that Scarlet Witch has Chaos Magic, but not how she has it, and so will reveal Chthon (or at least a fusion of Elder Gods), since the being behind it would make sense, given the intent. This would then lead nicely inwards Doctor Stranger 2, which confirms that Wanda appears. Since it brings the “Multiverse of Madness”, there must be a big, powerful cause for it, and one that necessitates Wanda and Strange coming together. The more Wanda uses the Darkhold and her Chaos Magic, the easier it will be for Chthon to break through, as the walls of reality become much thinner. And since Chthon can rewrite reality on a larger scale than Wanda, it is not beyond him to find a way to bring the twins back – or at least create voices – to torment Scarlet Witch to pressure her . to break down those walls and let them through.

Given Doctor Strange is on his way to becoming Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU (a title that exclaims in the WandaVision final), and is a Master of the Mystic Arts, then it all falls right into his wheelhouse as something he will have to try to fix. Therefore Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can see Wanda unleash Chthon and open a tear in the multiverse, and Wanda and Strange work to stop it then. The Darkhold is also the source of things like vampires in Marvel, and if these cracks occur, more could flow through. A theory has been made about it before Doctor Stranger 2 can introduce vampires in front of the MCU Blade, and that’s maybe how they do it.

For the twins themselves, there are ways they can return. It could be that Chthon is bringing them back to reality in an attempt to reach an agreement with Scarlet Witch, or that there is another way in which they are being raised. Since Marvel is apparently building on the Young Avengers, and Billy and Tommy – like Wiccan and Speed ā€‹ā€‹- are an important part of it, it would be a big surprise if versions of it did not belong to the MCU’s Young Avengers team. . By letting Wanda hear their voices WandaVisionpost-credit scene, then it lays the foundation that they can still survive, even without the Hex (it is noteworthy that, unlike with Vision, WandaVision do not show what is happening to them). Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could see that they had been properly restored, which would further set the future of the Young Avengers and MCU.
