WandaVision’s ‘Pietro’ Funko Pop can prove he’s a fake

The recent release of Pietro’s WandaVision Funko Pop could reveal a big secret about his character.

WARNING: The following contains potentially important spoilers for Marvel’s WandaVision, which airs on Disney +.

Following WandaVision‘s release of Episode 6, and in collaboration with the Virtual Con Spring 2021 product, Funko has added some new Pops to their WandaVision collection, which matches the previously announced figures of Vision and Wanda in their Halloween costumes. A duo with Billy and Tommy in their costumes will be sold as a virtual Emerald City Comic-Con exclusive, while one of Pietro in his costume will be released as a Funko.com exclusive.

However, there is something strange about the description that the photo of the Pietro figure has on both Instagram and Twitter. Both captions read: “Come in March: Pop! Marvel: Marvel Studios ‘- WandaVision -‘ Pietro Maximoff ‘(Funko exclusive)!’ Pietro’s name is presented in quotation marks. This does not match the way characters are tagged in Funko product lists (which typically reflects what their boxes will say although no pictures of the boxes have been released yet. For example, the twins are tagged “Marvel: Marvel Studios’ WandaVision – Billy and Tommy. “

This raises some questions. Is the character labeled “Pietro Maximoff” because it represents the Evan Peters-played Pietro, who is even known to many other characters in WandaVision as the wrong Pietro? He is not originally from the MCU; the Pietro that Wanda grew up with, the Pietro in Age of ultron, was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, had a Sokovian accent, was much more serious and related to his sister in a much softer and more intense way. The Evan Peters iteration of Quicksilver – Peter Maximoff – in the X-Men movies he is an American joker, and his version of Pietro in WandaVision is portrayed much more so. The brothers and sisters even discuss it in the show.

Another possibility, however, is that the character ‘Pietro Maximoff’ is marked because the character that Evan Peters plays is not Pietro at all. Amid his strange manners, inconsistent appearance and awareness of many (though not all) details of what happened to Westview, fans have speculated that he is actually another, possibly villainous character disguised as Pietro to be near Wanda. come. He’s maybe Loki, who’s joining the upcoming Disney + Loki series; he may be the comic book villain Nightmare, who preys on sleeping victims; he may also be Mephisto, whose appearance has been predicted since the beginning of the year WandaVision, considering his association with Wanda and her sons in the comics.

Either way, Funko’s use of the quotes around Pietro’s name is a destroyer of some kind. It can only speak to the illusory nature of WandaVision, but it can also refer to a sinister pretense.

WandaVision was written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes.
