WandaVision In episode 7, the following embodiments of universal power – this time multiverse – began in the form of people and places instead of Infinity Stones. The MCU’s first 23 films focused on the quest for the Infinity Stones and the catastrophic consequences it brought. As the Infinity Stones are reduced to atoms or in another timeline, the universe is expected to go out of balance. The MCU’s timelines are likely to merge and clash with alternative realities. Villains will seek other sources of power and heroes must find different ways to stop them. In the comics, there are various objects and entities that, like the Infinity Stones, determine whether the universe will remain in order or remain in utter chaos, and the MCU is likely to adapt some of them in future movies and Disney + shows. .
So far, WandaVision has done an excellent job in drafting many concepts that will be essential later on. But since the MCU should be less complicated than the comics, some of them will probably be simplified or merged. Therefore, cosmic microwave background radiation, the multiverse, and Nexus creatures are likely to replace Quantum Realm science, intergalactic planets, and the Infinity Stones as the MCU’s main points of interest. This begs the questions: what is the Nexus and what role will it play in the MCU?
What are Nexus creatures?
Just as the Infinity Stones represent an important aspect of the universe, each Nexus embodies a different aspect of the multiverse. It contains more magical related concepts such as magic, necromancy and geomancy. Because these entities are sentimental (and often inherently powerful), they can use and abuse their abilities to advance their own goals or to protect the multiverse, which could likely make them more dangerous than the Infinity Stones. Nexus creatures also join the Nexus of All Realities, which means the point where all realities collide. As such, it can affect the probability of the multiversity and change reality into one or more levels of existence.
The place where the Nexus manifests can be just as important as the Nexus creatures themselves. That means a place like Westview could be the gateway to multiverse madness and an open door for other Nexus creatures. At this stage of the MCU, however, the most interesting mystery is which character will be part of the Nexus. In the comics, Nexus creatures include time-traveling Kang The Conqueror and Franklin Richards, two direct descendants of the Fantastic Four; Jean Gray, known for owning the Phoenix Force; Merlin, the legendary wizard from the Arthur era, and both Wanda and Vision, who are connected to the Nexus because of their exceptional origins and abilities.
Why Wanda is Probably a Nexus Being
Oddly enough, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is more worthy of the title of Nexus Being than her counterpart. While the comic book Scarlet Witch is a Nexus, it’s mainly due to her mutant powers and her magical abilities, but the MCU’s Wanda owes her powers to the Mind Stone and what are probably dormant mutant genes. In addition, she became the anchor point between the MCU and other universes, namely that of Fox’s X mans franchise, which only recently started joining the MCU. To top it all off, Scarlet has turned Witch’s fake world born of trauma into an engine of magical power that enables her to break the multiverse wide open.
When you choose which character you want to own, the Nexus of All Realities makes it easy. Wanda has a close relationship with the Infinity Stones, as she not only drew her power from the Mind Stone (and even destroyed it once), but also acts like the Reality Stone. Wanda is possibly also the very first MCU mutant and could be related by blood to Evan Peters’ Quicksilver, which comes from another universe. Most importantly, Wanda transformed Westview with magic, making it a place where different levels of reality could easily cross.
Why Agatha Wanda’s Powers Want
Agatha Harkness is far more experienced as a witch than Wanda Maximoff. Agatha needs to know how useful Westview is to other magical entities, as apparently no other similar place in history has been recorded. Agatha may have fixed Wanda as soon as she got her powers from the Mind Stone or when Wanda defeated Thanos almost alone. Wanda made her a target not only for world governments and powerful organizations, but also for magicians, witches and other mystical entities. While Agatha gets to her first, other characters like Clea or Emma Frost may also be behind Scarlet Witch.
About how Agatha Harkness can use Wanda’s magic, the mystery is harder to crack with just a few clues. In the comics, Agatha Harkness is a witch who lived through different historical periods. She lived to see the fall of Atlantis and played an important role in the Salem Witch Trials. This is actually quite likely WandaVision will sooner or later shine a light on her history as it may expose her motivations to want Wanda’s help and power in the present. Maybe Agatha’s “husband” Ralph, who is Mephisto in disguise or not, has been jailed ever since. But if there’s one thing witches commonly see is that their pets are not always what they seem, so it would not be shocking if Agatha plans to break Ralph, Mephisto or her son, Nicholas Scratch, out of her pet rabbit. not. How Nexus Can Replace the Infinity Stones
Apart from the essential elements of the universe, the Infinity Stones have influenced many influential MCU characters. Nexus creatures and the Nexus of all realities can act similarly on a multiversal level. Wanda, as the full Scarlet Witch, can represent Necromancy after reviving Vision and Quicksilver (and possibly her twins) as they reincarnate in the comics), while Agatha Harkness embodies the magic. Westview, New Jersey, may be the most important point where all realities clash. As always, the MCU can customize some details to fit all of these concepts within the set context and future plot lines. If anything WandaVision so far determined is something one can rely on, it is logical to assume that Wanda’s son, Billy, who is quite powerful in the comics, may be a Nexus creature, and therefore Agatha is after the twin. Spider-Man is perhaps another Nexus creature, and that explains why he is the focal point of the MCU’s apparent Spider-Verse.
The launch of the Nexus streamlines the MCU because each conflict points to one shared goal. It also allows new key characters like Wanda and Wiccan to become the faces of the MCU. WandaVision first start setting up the Nexus, but all the others fall into place as well. For example, the launch of Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the possible unveiling of Franklin Richards in the coming Fantastic Four, and whatever puzzles Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 supports the Nexus as the Holy Grail of the next few phases of the MCU.
