Walmart looks at local companies as McDonalds leaves some stores

As McDonald’s is working to close some of its Walmart stores, the retailer wants to put local businesses and others in place.

McDonald’s will gradually close locations in Walmart stores over the years, but will be present within 150 Walmarts.

Walmart spokeswoman Molly Blakeman said McDonald’s closures in many cases arose when leases were terminated.

The retail giant is taking the opportunity to get local businesses such as barber shops and tool rental facilities in the leased spaces. Other food options are also being considered, such as Dominoes.

“We are excited to continue to bring in new businesses that make sense for our customers and their changing needs,” Blakeman said.
