Walgreens solves website problem so Vermonters 65+ can register for vaccinations

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Walgreens corrected its website after a technical issue prevented Vermonters 65 and older from registering for COVID vaccinations on Thursday.

Walgreens told Vermont officials that it would be ready to begin registering Vermonters in that age group on Thursday. But when Vermonters started registering, Walgreens’ website and phone system said people must be 70 years or older to make an appointment.

The company has since fixed the issue on its website, and 65+ can now sign up for an appointment. People may need to clear their web browser / cache or reload the page as soon as it is ready.

The telephone system has not yet been rectified. Once properly updated, Vermonters can call 1-800-WALGREENS.

You need an appointment for vaccinations at Walgreens. There is no walk-in.

Walgreens received an unexpected dose increase of 4,300 from the CDC.

Officials in Vermont will open registration for the 65-plus age group Monday at 8:15 p.m.

Kinney Drugs also opens their online registration on Monday.

Everyone who was previously eligible to receive a vaccine is still eligible and can now make their appointments.
