Vybe Together was banned by Apple and TikTok for helping to organize parties during Covid

The app used its Instagram account, which stays online, to explain why it disappeared from iPhones and iPads.
“App Store has brought us down !!! We will be back !!,” the Instagram post said.

The Instagram account suggests that you use the app to ‘Find your figs. Local wine evenings, beer pong games and dancing in an apartment near you. ‘ The app’s slogan is “Let your rebel go. Keep your party going.”

Not Vybe Together, appeal (AAPL) nor did TikTok immediately respond to requests for comment. The action against the app was first reported by The Verge.

Vybe Together has a queries page that has now been removed and suggested that it supports small gatherings, not large ones, reports The Verge.

“We are aware that Covid is a major health problem for the country, our communities, our friends and family,” the FAQ page said. “If we can all just be in isolation, it can actually disappear. Holding large-scale parties is very dangerous. That’s why we do not support it. But Vybe is a compromise, no big parties, but small gatherings. We can live, at least a little during these times with Vybe. ‘

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recommends holding even smaller social gatherings that bring together people from different households due to the risk of spreading Covid-19.

“The more people an individual has during an event and the longer the interaction lasts, the greater the potential risk of spreading with Covid-19 and Covid-19,” the CDC said in its guidelines. Many local governments have also issued guidelines banning the gathering.

New Year's Eve parties are a 'Covid-19 dream'. This is why they can be especially dangerous
Vybe Saam got a bit on social media on Tuesday before Apple and TikTok went into action. Taylor Lorenz, a technology and Internet writer for the New York Times, was one of the critics of the Vybe Together app.

“Some awful people have built an entire app to find and promote Covid-unsafe large indoor parties, and they use TikTok to market it to millions of people,” he tweeted. “They’re currently promoting secret NYE ragers in NYC.”

Lorenz has identified a co-founder of Vybe Together and included the person’s LinkedIn profile page. The page has been offline since Wednesday morning.
