Virginia sees 2,034 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 559,930 nationwide

Since February 19, Virginia has been reporting 559,930 cases of coronavirus in the Commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Friday, a total of 1,471,242 vaccines have been administered across Virginia, and according to VDH, 393,306 people have been completely vaccinated.

  • 2 new cases in Staunton, Goochland County, New Kent County, Scott County, Covington, Poquoson, Nelson County, Highland County, Galax and Washington County

  • 1 new case in Buckingham County, Floyd County, Grayson County, King and Queen County, Charles City County, Falls Church, Amelia County and Bland County

  • Rockbridge County, Tazewell County, Bristol and Bath County all declined with one case

  • Russell County decreased by three cases

  • Roanoke City dropped by 201 cases

  • According to the Department of Health, decrease in cases can be attributed to a person being tested at a place other than where they live, or the automation process for electronically reported laboratory results may attach the wrong jurisdiction to a specific zip code.

    As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. or Health that there were 7,204,657 tests.

    The term “test encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once because of their occupation, high-risk status, or the need for a negative outcome to return to work. The health department started using this measure on May 1st. Click here to find out more.
