Celebrated American children’s author Dr. Seuss is now considered too controversial for one of Virginia’s largest school districts, according to a new report.
Dr. Seuss’s birthday has been celebrated in schools for more than two decades as Read Across America Day – a day dedicated to the importance of reading and literacy. The day falls on dr. Seuss’ birthday in honor of the striking author, whose books have helped countless children read worldwide.
But following pressure from activists, Loudon County Public Schools is apparently canceling the annual Dr. Seuss celebration.
“Because we realize that many schools are going to celebrate ‘Read Across America Day’ in partial recognition of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, it is important that we carry knowledge of research that may challenge our practice in this regard,” Loudoun County Schools said in an announcement. reported by the Daily Wire.
“As we become more culturally oriented and racially conscious, all building leaders should know that research has been done in recent years on the revelation of radical undertones in the books and the illustrations drawn by Dr. Seuss,” the school district continued.
Learning for Justice, a liberal advocate group for education, was apparently behind the print campaign against the celebrated children’s writer. According to their website, the organization is linked as a group that “wants to maintain the mission” of the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center.

Learning for Justice conducted a study of the St. Catherine University quoted claiming that Dr Seuss’s books were covered with ‘orientalism, anti-blackness and white supremacy’ in an article they released.
The group also claims that the characters who were not white in the books were ‘subservient’ to white characters.

This is not the first time that dr. Seuss does not cancel.
Former First Lady Melania Trump slammed a Massachusetts elementary school librarian in 2017, claiming that the illustrations in Dr. Seuss’ books – usually cartoon animals or fantastic creatures – were examples of ‘racist propaganda’.
Loudoun County Public Schools did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment on this article.
