Virgin Galactic is preparing for its next spaceflight effort, with the company announcing on Monday that it will conduct its aborted flight test in December so early.

The space tourism industry said that one of the main objectives for the spacecraft ‘is to test the remedial work that has been completed since then … the on-board computer has stopped the firing of the rocket engine.’

“The team has since conducted the causal analysis, completed the necessary corrective work and conducted extensive soil testing. The next phase will be to assess and verify this work during a rocket-powered flight,” Virgin Galactic said in a press release. .

Shares of Virgin Galactic have risen 9% in trading on the forex market since the previous close.

Virgin Galactic will also aim for each of the original objectives of the December flight effort, including evaluating the elements of the client cabin, testing the live current capacity from the spacecraft to the ground, and upgrading the upgraded horizontal stabilizers and flight control during increase the phase of the flight, ”the company said.

After the flight test, Virgin Galactic said it would complete an extensive data review to inform the next steps in the test flight program. Prior to the aborted December flight, Virgin Galactic expected to perform three remaining spacecraft tests before embarking on commercial flights. The second and third spacecraft tests were previously planned for the first quarter of 2021.
