Vikings Sign DT Dalvin Tomlinson

The Vikings made their first big splash in free agencies and signed former Giant Dalvin Tomlinson to a two-year deal worth $ 22 million.

Tomlinson is a defensive tackle of 6’3 “, 320 pounds who will most likely play 3-technique alongside Michael Pierce at the nose. The duo may prove to be the most dominant defensive duo the Vikings have had since the Williams Wall of the mid-2000s.

Dalvin Tomlinson is retiring from his new contract and just turned 27 last month. He was a second-round pick from Alabama in 2017, and according to PFF, Tomlinson has scored at least 75.1 in each of his four seasons with the Giants. He also did not miss a game in those four seasons due to injury.

Here’s a link to an exposition of Tomlinson’s 2020 film.

Tomlinson can also take a nap, and the versatility is appreciated by Vikings’ defensive coach and co-defense coordinator Andre Patterson. Tomlinson’s signing puts Shamar Stephen’s status in doubt, as Tomlinson is likely to take Stephen’s position as a starting 3-technique.

It looks like a good signing at a position and position group that is in most need after last season. The Vikings continued to make moves to free up cap space so that there could be more Vikings free agent moves in the coming days.

Stay tuned.
