EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings announced Wednesday that they have released Riley Reiff.
The 32-year-old has played 58 regular-season games in Purple over four seasons and all started on the left handle.
Reiff was a Detroit first-choice pick in 2012 and spent the first five seasons of his career with the Lions.
But he signed with the Vikings in March 2017 as a free agent, providing stability, toughness and leadership at a key spot in Minnesota’s offensive line.
Reiff, who grew up in Parkston, South Dakota, has been a team captain with the Vikings in all four seasons.
“I love the kid. He’s a tough, physical man,” Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said of Reiff at the end of the 2020 season. “He’s a professional pro. Come out every day. He’s had a really good year. He’s a great fighter; he’ll fight you all day, so he’s really everything you want in a offensive lineout. “
