View Golden Globes nominations: live stream announcement

With the 2021 Golden Globes around the corner, nominations will be announced this Wednesday at 05:35 PT / 08:35 ET. The announcement will be streamed live on the Golden Globes’ official website.

Former Golden Globe winners Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson unveiled the nominees live on ‘Today’. The first 12 categories are by ‘E! News, ”which also includes the remaining categories on E! Online and E! News digital platforms, including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

The ceremony usually takes place on the first Sunday of the calendar year, but the COVID-19 pandemic requires the Golden Globes to move to a later date. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the change last June following the postponement of the Academy Awards until April 25. The extension period for film films has also been extended to 28 February, although the eligibility period for television programs remained unchanged and was limited to 31 December. 2020.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic taxed theaters heavily, there was no shortage of buzzing films during the year. ‘Promising Young Woman’, which started at the Sundance Film Festival last year, has garnered praise without being linked to a streamer. On the other hand, Netflix has rolled out a plethora of award-winning contestants, including “The Trial of Chicago 7,” “Mank,” “Midnight Sky” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Varieties Clayton Davis predicts it could count among Wednesday’s best director nominations.

“One Night in Miami” can see multiple nominations, even in a single category. Variety expects Leslie Odom, Jr. and Kingsley Ben-Adir will be named Best Supporting Actor. The two played ideologically head-to-head like Sam Cooke and Malcolm X respectively in the film directed by Regina King. Variety also expects nominations in this category for Daniel Kaluuya as Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton in ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’, Chadwick Boseman in ‘Da 5 Bloods’ and Bill Murray in ‘On the Rocks’.

“This category could take a very different form than what could eventually happen to the Academy,” Davis noted. “The HFPA has struggled in the past to build consensus on a large ensemble.”

The Golden Globes will take place on February 28 at 5pm PT at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, which airs on NBC. The celebration of the 78th year is presented by the comic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The Golden Globes are voted on by the HFPA, which consists of about 90 international journalists.
