[VIDEO] ‘The Goldbergs’: George Segal Tribute in his Final Episode

Wednesdays The Goldbergs takes a moving farewell from the member of the AG, George Segal, who died on March 23 of complications at the bypass operation.

Although Segal’s last installment for his character Albert “Pops” Solomon was relatively ugly, the half hour ended with the next heartfelt tribute.

On Twitter, Segal’s Goldbergs daughter, Wendi McLendon-Covey, has indicated that the absence of Pops will be addressed on screen next fall, assuming the sitcom is renewed. ‘We will NEVER replace George in the role of Pops. If we get a season 9, we’ll address it, ‘McLendon-Covey wrote.

Additional series creator Adam F. Goldberg (who no longer serves as a showrunner): “Fans are asking what is planned for Pops. Although my input and stories have not been used this season, I know the way to address this loss is to use my true experience of the loss of my Grandpa to honor George and my Pops. Hope I’m welcome S9! ”

After Segal’s death at the age of 87, Goldbergs tweeted: ‘Today we have lost a legend. It was a real honor to be a small part of George Segal’s wonderful legacy. Finally I threw the perfect person to play Pops. Like my grandfather, George was a small child with a magical spark. ‘

Segal was also known for his starring role in NBCs Do not shoot me, where he starred for seven seasons as magazine owner and publisher Jack Gallo. Segal received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 1966 Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
