Video: Gunshots fired into the air during a melee at the amateur MMA show in Florida

Fans and fighters were scrambled at an amateur MMA event this past weekend when one contestant started firing unexplained gunshots into the air.

Former UFC fighter and current boxer at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, Hector Lombard, recorded the scary incident, which took place last Saturday at the Rize Fighting Championship show in the Bamboo Room in Lake Worth Beach, Florida. .

The incident was first reported by TMZ.

According to Lombard, the shooting incident was preceded by a hefty quarrel.

“This man just fired his gun in the middle of a melee during an amateur show,” Lombard wrote in a caption. “Shameful and pathetic cowardly behavior ruined a great night of fighting.”

Police initially responded to a call, Teri Barbera, a Palm Beach County public information officer, told MMA Fighting. A cattle in the area found that no one was hit by a gunshot, although some people sustained minor injuries and were treated by PBC Fire Rescue.

No arrests have been made, but police consider it an ongoing investigation.

“We are talking to witnesses and we are trying to find out who was involved, but fortunately no one was hit by gunfire,” Barbera said. ‘More costs can be charged. It could kill someone. Right now, it’s shots being fired that’s a charge. ‘

Armando Gonzalez, president of the Rize Fighting Championship, told Florida’s WBPF that the shooting took place after the main event and that the plan is for future events to increase safety.

“It was quite scary for a lot of people, we were definitely shocked to see something like this happen,” Gonzalez said.

“For an event that went so well, it’s frustrating,” he added. “Hopefully the authorities will arrest that man.”

Darbo Cummings, co-owner of Bamboo Room, told WBPF that MMA events could no longer be in the cards for the venue.

“For us, I’m not sure we’re going to allow these opportunities in our parking lot anymore,” Cummings said. “We stick to what we do which is more live music.”
