Video: Can tuned and SUPERCHARGED birds of prey on race fuel kill the Ram TRX in a drag race? Run What You Brung Ep. 2

2021 ram trx ford raptor tuned supercharged drag race

In this episode of ‘Run What You Brung’ we have not one but three Ford Raptor trucks going against each other and the Ram TRX in a drag race. The first bracket race is between our full stock 2020 Ford Raptor and a modified and tuned 2018 Raptor that drives on 37-inch-long tires. The winner of this race will compete against a V8 1st generation Ford SVT Raptor with a superpowered power measurement with a ROUSH conversion. The winner then adopts the 2021 Ram TRX.

The stock Raptor has a dual turbo V6 that delivers 450 horsepower. It is a fully selected crew cabin weighing approximately £ 6,000. The black tuned Ford Raptor has a post-intake air intake, intercooler, exhaust and a tune from MPT. This dual-turbo V6 uses E30 (30% ethanol) fuel and should deliver around 620-630 horsepower. It has front-wheel suspension and 37-inch tires, so it can weigh a little more than our long-term stock Ford Raptor.

This was not much of a surprise, the entered Raptor winning the first drag race in an impressive way with a 0-60 MPH time of about 5.1 seconds. As always, this towing race is being held at IMI Motorsports in Dacono, Colorado (at 1 mile above sea level).

The 1st generation Raptor has a 6.2 liter ROUSH propulsion V8 engine and a tuning of about 700 horsepower. Yes, it has a 6.2 V SC V8, just like the new TRX. Okay, the two are still very different. This super-powered V8 Raptor rolls on 37-inch tires, has a fairly heavy bedtop and has more than 203,000 miles on the clock. Wow! This older Raptor is probably the heaviest truck of this bunch. It probably weighs more than the 6,500-pound weight of the new TRX you see here.

The super-powered V8 Raptor also loses from the enrolled 2nd-generation Raptor. Now, this is the tuned Raptor versus the TRX. This Raptor weighs less and delivers a little less power than the TRX. This drag race was the closest we’ve ever seen! In the end, the TRX just runs out on a nose with a 0-60 mph (on that day) of 4.75 seconds.

At the moment, the TRX is still the king of this Run What You Brung series.
