Vidant Medical Center launches plans for resurgence capacity amid increased distribution of COVID-19 community

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – Increased distribution of the community of COVID-19 has led the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville to begin implementing its plans for resurgence capacity.

Vidant officials say the plan for the lift capacity includes the creation of additional bed capacity.

The hospital system continues to ask the community to help slow the spread of the virus.

‘Our team members are not immune to the spread of the community, and we need to be healthy to take care of the community. We continue to ask everyone to make their contribution to stopping the spread: avoid gatherings, wash hands regularly and wear a mask, ”Vidant Health said in a statement.

The hospital system said it is currently treating 218 COVID-19 patients.

Vidant said Monday that its virus-testing website processes 1,300 collections, the most so far.

The system says that the positivity rate is still high and is currently around 20%.
