PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) – Vestas on Wednesday fired 450 employees from its manufacturing plant in Colorado. Including 120 Pueblo workers.

According to The Chieftain, the company laid off 15% of staff at Pueblo Place. Chante Condit-Pottol, Vestas’ director of marketing and communications, said the decision to consolidate its workforce reflects lower market demand in the short term.

In total, Vestas laid off 120 workers at the Pueblo Tower factory, completely shut down 50 employees at the Windsor blade factor and its Brighton blade factory.

According to The Chieftain, Vestas is consolidating all blade production in Windsor and plans to rebuild the Brighton blade yard into a North American headquarters for its Global Tooling business.

Pueblo Economic Development Corporation executive director Jeff Shaw said they plan to work with people to get new jobs.

Displaced workers are encouraged to contact the office of Pueblo Economic Development Corporation at (719) -544-2000.
