Valve brings Steam Link app to Linux, adds more cohesion

Valve significantly expands your ability to share games at home and for free with friends using Steam.

One change is the launch of a Linux version of its Steam Link app, which lets you stream games from a computer to a device using the Steam Link app on the same local network. This new Linux version means that you can now stream games from a computer to a Linux-based set-top box, for example connected to a TV. The app is also available on Android, iOS and Raspberry Pi.

Valve has also introduced a major update to its Remote Play Together feature, which allows you to stream games to your computer via the internet so you can play them with friends. Just last week, Valve introduced a way for you to play games with friends who do not have a Steam account, but with the feature, you can only play with one friend without a Steam account at a time. However, you can now play with as many friends without Steam accounts as you like, depending on how many other players a game supports and the bandwidth of your network.

Follow the instructions here if you want to try the feature in beta.
