After its major update last week, which included a brand new agent, Brave is already back with another patch. This time, there’s a slight nervousness to Jett, but the main focus of this patch is a massive overhaul of the Split card, which has consistently been one of the players’ least favorite cards.
When Split was first released, it was an excellent example of some of Braves biggest card design problems. It relied too heavily on artificial corners created by strange cube areas in the corridors, and there were bomb sites that were completely too open. This resulted in the transition from one site to another being incredibly slow, and also led to site surveys and post-plants that felt a little too similar-y. Fortunately, it seems that Riot felt the same way.
In this second round of major updates on the map, the developer has cleared up some of Split’s odd corners and tight doorways in favor of more open spaces that give players a little more information while on the move. More importantly, Riot has also carefully increased the coverage on Split’s bombing sites, which should lead to significantly more interesting battles around them.

Agent Updates
Jett
- Smoking duration decreased 7 >>> 4.5
In continuing the changes to the controller from Patch 2.0, we felt it was important to consider Jett’s smoke as well. In Patch 1.0, we increased the smoking time of Jett to 7 seconds (from the then 4 seconds), and we are now partially undoing it. We found that the result of the change was that Jett became a replacement for the Controller role, and that fairly aggressive teams could use her Cloudburst smoke to quickly take up space without relying on a dedicated Controller rely. It’s part of a pattern of Duelists replacing more utility agents and that we’ll keep looking at in the future. It is important that Jett can use her smoke to create temporary windows for the plays that define her style, but the windows should be short enough to ensure that the controllers are where teams are looking for team-oriented vision.
Map updates
Divide
This Split update is focused on improving attack options on the map, as well as reducing 50/50 checks, the depth of certain angles, and opening up specific areas on the map by increasing the choke point magnification.
Image: Games of chance
Increase the width of the B main door
- This will make the space for attackers easier to navigate, and it will make it harder for defenders to stop attackers in the stranglehold. There is a crate for attackers to use on the other side of the doorways as a cover, making it possible to throw utility from a new angle to the site.
Image: Games of chance
In addition to the changes to B Main, an additional rubbish heap has been placed in the corner to prevent defenders from hiding in too deep a corner
- This creates a new angle in B Main when you stand on the new object.
Image: Games of chance
Increased boundary for the arable plant zone
- This will allow a new Spike plant for attackers to defend within B Main.
Image: Games of chance
New material stack for covering in B Site with which you can insulate corners more effectively
- It also breaks up a 50/50 vertical angle when looking at the yard from B Main.
Image: Games of chance
Reduced depth of this angle to enable the defense of the defender with more safety
Image: Games of chance
Remove this cube near the defender calf to push more safely through this area
Image: Games of chance
Increase the width of the entrance to the Vent Room
Image: Games of chance
In the Vent room added a sloping wall, which removes a 50/50 check when you enter Vents from Mid
- The new sloping wall also protects you from wall penetration coming from Mid.
Image: Games of chance
Simplifies the Ramen / Scuttle Crab area
- This will make the map feel more open and allow you to push through and clear this area without relying so much on their utility.
Image: Games of chance
Reduce the depth of the cube in the sewer to push the space through more safely
Image: Games of chance
Increase the width of the door to A Tower and reduce the safety of defenders in A Tower
- This change should increase the value of controlling A-ramps.
Image: Games of chance
Custom angle of sloping wall
- This allows the back corner of attackers to be cleaned slightly earlier. This corner is still safe from the A-tower, but you can now successfully clear this place by stepping out on the Rafters without having to fall down to the site.

Custom wall depth near screens, allowing you to move more safely from screens without the use of utilities
COMPETITIVE UPDATES
- Added the ability to hide custom game results from match history
- Many of you, especially professionals, have asked that you not be able to show the results of match history so that they can practice without other players examining their strategies. We wanted to send this feature to Challengers so you can practice without this worry.
SOCIAL UPDATE
- The Add Friend button now exists only for teammates and the option to add hostile players has been removed
- Any teammates with privacy / streaming mode enabled will not have the Add Friend button next to their name.
- The driving restrictions for AFK-in-game and during the pre-game have changed
- We want to make sure that people with connection problems are not severely penalized, but those who deliberately receive AFKs receive harsher punishments.
- With that, we will add AFK forgiveness for a certain number of laps, but repeated / extended events will be penalized with higher driving restrictions.
