Valheim patch notes for 0.148.6 update include fire changes and more

The latest patch for the hit Norse multiplayer RPG Valheim is now available, and update 0.148.6 makes a series of changes, one of which has a gap that the players have discovered in cheese material. As Eurogamer reminds us, players can harvest material from gray warblers by setting fire to the environment where they spawn.

But the new patch changes campfires, bonfires and the hearth so that it does damage while they do damage. What this means is that you now have to manually reset fires to ignite them instead of letting them run indefinitely.

Eurogamer checked the game after the patch and found that, “After standing in my campfire for a few seconds, I noticed that it had dropped to half its health. Hearts perform a little better, but still hold “Just a few minutes. So it’s safe to say that the toaster method is much less practical now than it used to be, and you can not just let it run while you do some tasks.”

The rest of the patch notes outline various bug fixes and welcome improvements and changes, including making it easier to tame wolves that spawn at night. In addition, you can no longer use the harpoon on bases, while the battle ax has seen a change that makes it easier to hit multiple elements. The drop rate for the Drake and Deathsquito trophies is now being increased, while all bush drops can now float on water.

Valheim is a huge success, with the latest figures showing an astonishing 6 million sales for the game by a team of five people.

  • Campfire, bonfire and hearth can be damaged
  • Enhanced chest storage space increased to 6×4
  • All breast drops can now float on water
  • Sunken crypt entrance adjusted (to prevent tombstones from getting stuck)
  • Fixed rotation of the wooden tower screen on the stand
  • The decline rate of Deathsquito and Drake trophies has increased
  • 1 & 2 star creature HP fix
  • Night-spawning wolves should now be easier to tame (should stop trying to run away and relax after they start taming)
  • Harpoon no longer works on bosses
  • Game console is disabled by default (add launch argument “-console” to enable)
  • The console command for enabling development / debug commands has been changed to “devcommands” from “imacheater” and a warning message has been added.
  • Enhanced enemy projectile response system
  • Battle ax tweaks (hit multiple enemies more easily)
  • Player recoil force is affected by equipment speed adjusters (IE heavy gear will reduce the recoil of enemies)
  • Swartbosse stone tower adaptations
  • Solution to ward systems (you can no longer place a new ward where an enemy ward overlaps)
  • Convenience calculation fixed
  • “Could not connect” error message corrected
  • Snake trophy stack fix
  • Missing Moder spawn place is missing in some worlds corrected (NOTE: for existing worlds the “genloc” command must be executed manually in a local game with dev commands capable of generating new locations, this is only necessary if your specific world has this problem, it is not very common)
  • Multi-item collider fix
  • Added a slight usage delay on Hammer, Hoe & Cultivator
  • Hammer removed car repeat added
  • Better network bandwidth management (should work better with low bandwidth connections and also use higher data rates if possible)
  • Solutions for Dolmen locations (prevent the top stone from falling)
  • The removal of the article was corrected and not always the statistics of items synchronized
  • The button to refresh the server list can be pressed before the entire list is downloaded
  • Better bad connection detection
  • Resolved issue that causes server to send more data the longer a client is connected
  • Localization updates
