If you enjoy the Nordic-inspired landscapes of Valheim, be careful, a bug eats up some people’s worlds. Developer Iron Gate is working on a solution, but it’s having problems.
The error is a catastrophic one – you start, only to see that all your savings are gone, replaced by a loading error. If we go to reports on the subreddit of the survival game, it seems to have become more common after the latest update. Some players report an error message when trying to log in that offers no solution. One has tried deleting .old files, fixing some earlier wrinkles, and doing all the standard things like restarting their machine, working as an administrator, and so on.
Richard Gate developer Richard Svensson tweeted a PSA about the bug, saying the team could not repeat it, meaning a solution is currently difficult. ‘If you play Valheim this weekend, make a backup of your world and characters. The evil world destroyer bug is still roaming free, ”he said, adding that the only thing the developers have is that it seems more likely if you get the Fiking out of the Viking game, so try to remember to the menu and leave rather manually.
Backing up all your data is as easy as going to C: Users Username AppData LocalLow IronGate Valheim and copying all your world and character files. It’s not ideal, but if your progress succumbs to emptiness, you can at least reverse it.
This is a bad bug, which we have not been able to reproduce once :(. It seems to occur more frequently when leaving the game with ALT + F4, so try using menu-> exit instead.
