Valheim dev shares a small tease of the first major update as sales reach 6 million euros • Eurogamer.net

The Viking-themed cooperative survival phenomenon, Valheim, has now thundered through the six million copies sold on Steam, and developer Iron Gate Studios is celebrating it with a small tease of the game’s first major update.

Valheim was, of course, a resounding success for the five-person studio; the game managed to move an impressive 1 million copy in the first week, and now, six weeks later, there is still no sign that the numbers will slow down anytime soon.

“We are very honored to have had the opportunity to participate in various interviews, from podcasts and latest games to Swedish television!”, Iron Gate said it was successful in a new post. “It was a hectic time, but do not worry! Of course we are still working on the game.”

The developer says it is currently focusing on addressing high-priority bugs and other key areas, including network issues and balancing Valheim’s infamous Deathsquito, and that a new patch is just waiting for an incoming Steam update.

A little further on, Valheim’s first major update, known as Hearth and Home, is evident from Iron Gate’s initial development plan. Details on the additions it will bring remain scarce, but the studio has now offers an initial preview, thanks to its lead artist. Admittedly, this is not much to go on, but let the speculation revolve around woodbird-on-a-stick:

“We have a lot of exciting things planned for this update,” writes Iron Gate. “We have, of course, listened to your feedback and suggestions, and can hardly wait until we can show you more.”
