Valerie Bertinelli will always have a great love for her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen.
The guitar icon is 65 years old in October due to cancer.
The two were married from 1981 to 2007 and share a son named Wolfgang (29).

“It’s weird,” the boiling-cooking actress revealed during her Thursday appearance on “Today” with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “Sadness is something I never thought would happen to me. I do not want to talk about it now, but I knew the man 40 years. I was 20 when I met him. I still loved him. We have a lot of time together. He is the father of my son. “

“He is the father of the greatest gift in my life,” the 60-year-old added, choking on photos of Wolfgang and his late father. “And I miss him. And I may miss him.”
After the couple divorced, Van Halen remarried in 2009 to Janie Liszewski, a stuntwoman. Bertinelli also tied a knot with Tom Vitale again in 2011.
Bertinelli said that while the relationship came to an end, their love remained.
“He was a big part of my life,” she said. ‘Just because we loved each other, he did not diminish the love he had for Janie or me for Tom. So this is a different kind of love. I do not know how to explain it. and write a book about it. ‘

In January, Bertinelli admitted that it was difficult to adjust to a life without Van Halen.
“It was rough,” she told a cooking segment during her appearance on the “Today” program. “Very bitter sweet. We are doing well. We spent the holiday together. I will see [son Wolf] later today. We spent a lot of time together. ‘
“It’s hard,” the star shared. “I texted him a few dozen times and I’m like, ‘Oh, I can’ t text him right now. ‘
At the time of Van Halen’s death, Bertinelli went to Instagram where she paid tribute to the musician.

“40 years ago, my life changed forever when I met you,” she wrote. “You have given me the only true light in my life, our son Wolfgang. Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you have retained your beautiful spirit and that grim grin. I am so grateful that Wolfie and you in your last moments. I will in our next life see me love. “
