“It’s weird,” the boiling-cooking actress revealed during her Thursday appearance on “Today” with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “Sadness is something I never thought would happen to me. I do not want to talk about it now, but I knew the man 40 years. I was 20 when I met him. I still loved him. We have a lot of time together. He is the father of my son. “

After the couple divorced, Van Halen remarried in 2009 to Janie Liszewski, a stuntwoman. Bertinelli also tied a knot with Tom Vitale again in 2011.

Bertinelli said that while the relationship came to an end, their love remained.
