Vaccine side effects are actually good: side effects from Moderna and Pfizer, explained

Every vaccine has the chance of side effects. But with these new Covid-19 vaccines, the chances are much greater. Most people feel pain at the injection site or tired. The vaccines have more side effects than we are used to, which can be scary. But scientists argue that this is actually a good thing.

For example, if we catch a cold, we may get tired and have a fever or chills. But it is not the virus that causes these symptoms – your immune system makes you feel like it is fighting the virus.

And while vaccines are harmless – you will not catch Covid-19 with the Covid-19 vaccine – they train your immune system to fight the virus. So you have the chance to feel the same “sick” feelings when your immune system kicks in response to the vaccine.

Watch the video above to learn more about how your immune system works and why you might feel a little “meh” after getting a chance.
