SAN ANTONIO Due to a delay in receiving the Pfizer vaccine in the city of San Antonio, the scheduled appointments at the Alamodome for Monday, January 18, according to the city leaders, will be canceled.
Shipping has been delayed from the manufacturer, namely Pfizer. All appointments scheduled for Monday will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 20th.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the doses the state has allocated to us have not been sent to us from the manufacturer,” said Dr. Colleen Bridger, assistant city manager, said in a statement. ‘We are hopeful that the consignment will arrive within the next 24-48 hours, which will enable us to continue with the vaccinations on Wednesday. We ask for your continued patience. ”
According to city officials, the date of the rescheduled appointments may be subject to change, depending on when the delayed shipment is received. The delay is currently not affected by all other appointments scheduled for later in the week.
Those who have an appointment at the Alamodome on Monday will be contacted via the email or phone number they provided with their registration.
Volunteers planning Monday will also be notified by Metro Health, city leaders said.
Mayor Nirenberg said it would have no impact on those planning for second doses.
We will bring more updates as they become available.
