Vaccinations are being vaccinated as Michigan prepares to expand fitness for all adults

Nearly a year exactly after Michigan recorded the first case of COVID-19 on March 10, 2020, just over 1 million residents were fully vaccinated and health workers across the state are preparing to extend the vaccination to all adults.

On Friday, March 12, government officials announced that all Michiganders 16 years and older would be eligible for vaccination from April 5th.

On the same day, government officials also expanded who would be eligible for a shot from March 22nd.

Previously, everyone between the ages of 50 and 64 would be eligible for vaccination on March 22nd. Residents 16 years or older with disabilities or medical conditions that pose a higher risk will be eligible that day.

As more people are eligible for the shot, government officials want vaccine providers to continue to prioritize people who are most exposed to work-related exposure and those who are most vulnerable to a serious case of COVID-19.

Health departments across the state are gradually working through the previous phases and can receive positive predictions for upcoming shipments.
