Vaccination site in Cal State LA offers vaccinations to all adults

The Los Angeles vaccination site will have every adult standing in line for a COVID-19 vaccine between Thursday and the end of Sunday, the governors’ office for emergency services said Wednesday night.

The decision comes about a week before the state, which begins April 15, formally gives permission to any Californian 16 and older to get the vaccine.

The move arose because there has been an excess capacity at the Cal State LA site over the past few days to administer COVID-19 vaccinations.

Thousands of appointment slots have been unbooked by eligible MyTurn registration system. As a result, on-site vaccines have been allowed to vaccinate adults who walk to the site without an appointment – including people outside the eligibility criteria, said Brian Ferguson, a spokesman for the emergency services office.

“During the last few days, we have not been able to complete all the appointments,” Ferguson said. As a result, staff on site “started walking. [Wednesday] is the day it took off. ”

Anyone 18 years and older may wait in line between Thursday and Sunday night to get the vaccine at the Cal State LA site, Ferguson said.

“As long as vaccines are available, we will be vaccinated until we are no more,” he said.

People can wait to see if vaccines are available at the pedestrian area, says Greg Renick, spokesman for Cal-OES.

Vaccinations will continue to make appointments made through the state’s MyTurn system, which can only be made by people 50 years and older, people with underlying medical conditions, and for people working in specific essential jobs, such as health care, education, child care, emergencies. services, and food and agriculture. People can sign up for an appointment on the website myturn.ca.gov or by calling (833) 422-4255.

The vaccination site in Los Angeles, on the east side of the city at 5151 State University Drive, is now managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Governors’ Office for Emergency Services. The management of the site will be handed over to the city of Los Angeles on Monday morning.

The vaccination site in Cal State LA is open between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. People do not have to live or work in LA County to be eligible for a vaccination on the Cal State LA website.

Other provinces have decided to move faster than the state’s guidelines to give all adults and also teenagers access to the vaccine.

In the counties of Southern California, Kern, Riverside, and San Bernardino, everyone 16 years of age and older was eligible.

Orange County allows anyone 16 years and older to live in four hard-hit zip codes – 92701 and 92703 in Santa Ana; 92805 in Anaheim and 92844 in Garden Grove – to be vaccinated.

In the Bay Area, Alameda Province allows anyone aged 16 and over living in a dozen hard-hit zip codes to be vaccinated, which includes neighborhoods in Oakland, Hayward, San Leandro and unincorporated San Lorenzo.

Elsewhere in California, a number of northern provinces – such as Contra Costa, Butte, Shasta and Nevada – are among those who have opened vaccines for those 16 and older; most require recipients to live or work in those provinces. The provinces of Yuba and Sutter have made COVID-19 shots available to everyone 18 years and older living or working there.

The UC Davis Health System in the Sacramento area, people 16 years and older are also vaccinated.
