Vaccination Gateway Mall, 2 pop-up clinics closed on Sunday due to weather

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The federally supported COVID-19 vaccination center at Gateway Mall closed for the rest of the day around 12:30 on Sunday due to weather conditions.

“Due to weather conditions – lightning, rain, flooding around the facility and the safety factor of not being in a hardened structure, it was decided that the Gateway Mall Vaccination Center will close for the rest of the day,” officials said.

For anyone with a regular appointment on Sunday, there is no need to reschedule – come in anytime from 07:00 to 19:00 or visit one of the satellite sites.

Operations at the Gateway Mall site will resume Monday at 7 p.m.

All federally-supported vaccination sites in the Jacksonville area have delayed opening until Sunday at 10 a.m., including the center at Gateway Mall in Norwood Avenue and its satellite sites in the Oceanway Community Center in Sago Avenue West and the Carver Recreation Center in 5th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach.

The Gateway Mall website offers the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The satellite sites and the Gateway Mall website provide a second dose of Pfizer vaccine for those who received their first doses before April 5 on the premises.

Although the Gateway Mall website closed early, the satellite sites will remain open Sunday to give the second doses of Pfizer vaccine.
