New defense mechanic using V-Gauge
The Street Fighter 5 community has known for six months now that their game would undergo a relatively major change, as developers promised a new combat mechanic in August 2020. .
This new mechanic allows players to escape from tough situations. Similar to V-Skill, this maneuver is used to counter attacks, but where it is unique is that it can be used freely and it is not necessary to be in block anesthesia to activate it.
This new mechanic taps off one gauge V-gauge per use. During its animation, V-Shift makes the player invincible for throws, attacks and projectiles.
When this maneuver is only used when an incoming attack is about to land, the fighters will go into a slow motion state and the character who used V-Shift will temporarily become invincible. It turns it into a similar technique, albeit a little more complicated than what we saw in Street Fighter 3.
The V-Shifting player in the slow motion mode can alternatively perform a “V-Shift-Break” which sees them start an invincible attack going forward. The idea here seems to be that if the V-Shift is used to stop an incoming attack with a lot of recovery, the defending player can secure a penalty if they do not have an attack in their standard arsenal that reaches far enough forward. not.
It seems like it will add a lot of interaction to a lot of interactions as it offers a new way of defending in this offensive game. Players will need to pay more attention to the way they want to use their V-Gauge, and V-Shift interactions have several possible routes and outcomes, as players will have to make the choice immediately after enabling this new mechanic.
