The current Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are only available for teens 16 and 18 years old respectively. As children’s immune systems differ from adults’ and react differently at different ages, the vaccines from 16 years of age and older in children of younger ages should be investigated. Hopefully a complete vaccine for children will hopefully be available by the end of 2021. And fortunately, the virus so far seems to be far less severely affected than adults.
MADISON, Wis. UW health officials say patients should be on the lookout for COVID-19 vaccinations, wherever they can be found.
Due to the federal government’s limited supply, the Department of Health Services in Wisconsin can only allocate relatively small amounts of vaccine compared to the needs of the community.
“While we are optimistic that the supply of vaccine will eventually increase, we have been informed that non-health system vaccinations such as pharmacies, local businesses, community organizations and pop-up vaccine clinics will play a major role in providing vaccinations,” he said. dr. Matt Anderson, senior medical director for primary care at UW Health, said.
Anderson said UW Health plans to provide patients with information about other local vaccines as other options become available. If patients plan an appointment with another inantar, they should cancel their appointment with UW health so that others can sign up for the open slots.
