Utah’s COVID-19 cases rose Wednesday, and the positivity rate continues to decline

SALT LAKE CITY – The number of new COVID-19 cases reported by the Utah Department of Health on Wednesday jumped hundreds Thursday.

UDOH has announced 729 new cases, along with seven new coronavirus deaths. Five of the reported deaths occurred before 10 February.

Utah reported just 487 cases on Tuesday.

The state average of seven days for the number of positive tests is 590 per day. The 7-day moving average for percentage positivity of “people above people” is 10.2%. The running average of 7 days for percentage positivity of ‘tests above tests’ is 4.8%.

Officials also report that a total of 759,533 vaccines have been administered in Utah.

With the seven additional deaths, the state’s death toll now stands at 1,955:

  • Male, aged 45-64, resident of Salt Lake County, resident for long term care
  • Male, aged 65-84, resident of Box Elder County, resident for long-term care
  • Female, over 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care resident
  • Female, aged 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at death
  • Female, aged 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at death
  • Male, aged 65-84, resident of Salt Lake County, not admitted to hospital at death
  • Male, aged 65-84, resident of Washington County, resident for long-term care
