USMNT preparatory camp begins Jan. 9 in Bradenton, Fla.

CHICAGO (January 5, 2020) – At the start of an important year for the American men’s national team that includes the final fourth Concacaf Nations League, the Gold Cup and the start of the qualifying World Cup in 2022, Gregg Berhalter, head coach of USMNT, begins 2021 with a meeting of 12 players on January 9 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.


The senior team, consisting of players aged 24 and over, will train with the U-23 USMNT until January 24, and then several U-23 players will be promoted to the full USMNT roster before a scheduled match at the end of the month.

“This is an important year for our national team programs, and we want to seize every possible opportunity,” Berhalter said. “For the senior team players, it is an opportunity to continue to develop and build as a team on the basis of a busy and challenging year. By being with our U-23 team, the group is given the opportunity to prepare for the Olympic qualification, while being able to further integrate into our culture and game model. ”
