British researchers have said that the first study of the world or MDMA can be used to treat alcohol addiction, is incredibly exciting.

During a trial in Bristol, people with alcohol problems were given controlled doses of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, during two psychotherapy sessions.

In the ensuing months, they were dramatically successful in limiting their drinking compared to patients receiving more traditional treatments.

Nine months after the sessions, 21 percent of those who participated in the MDMA therapy consumed more than 14 units of alcohol per week, compared with 75 percent for a group receiving standard NHS care.
