Facebook users have taken Twitter and others social media platforms to report Friday that they, without any explicit reason, were signed out at the big blue app. Memes and the phrase “So Facebook” quickly turned up during the incident, for which the company apologized on Saturday.

Apparently, the massive sign-up of an unknown number of people was due to a “configuration change”, the company announced on Twitter. It did not explain much further. However, Engadget reports that it appears that the people most affected by the incident were iPhone users using the app version of Facebook. The store said many users using Facebook’s two-factor authentication are having trouble signing in again.

According to Downdetector, which provides real-time interrupt information on digital services, thousands of people reported problems with Facebook on Friday. By Saturday, the reports had dropped drastically. At the time of publication, 87% of most reported issues were related to reporting.

Many users who were in this predicament and used two-factor authentication were eventually able to log in again, but often had to wait before receiving an SMS code. Some users have had to upload photos of their ID to regain access to their account via Engadget.

Although Facebook confirmed that the incident was rectified Saturday, some users still reported that they could not log in. In response, Facebook targeted users report the problem on Twitter to his Help Center for further assistance. Oddly enough, on Twitter, Facebook has users specifically after a iPhone app help page, which may support the theory that this is an iPhone issue.

“On January 22, a configuration change caused some people to sign out of their Facebook accounts,” Facebook said. USA Today on Saturday. “We investigated the matter and rectified it for everyone earlier today. We are sorry for the inconvenience. ”

Gizmodo asked Facebook to ask if it had any additional comments on the matter, as some users are still having trouble logging in to their accounts.

“We are aware that some people are having trouble logging in to their Facebook account again after last night. Individual sign-up issues can vary, and we encourage anyone experiencing a problem to visit our Help Center for guidance on their specific situation, ‘a Facebook spokesman said in an email containing a link. to his iPhone app Help Center Page.
